Chess is for the child who knows how all ( or most) of the pieces move. It is ideal for children who want to improve their chess in a less ‘pressured’ environment. A typical Chess session would involve 10 minutes of teaching (reinforcing how pieces move or tactical advice) and 30-35 minutes of playing other children. About half way through the term an intermediate ladder is introduced to give the children a ‘feel’ for competitive play. Generally children who are serious about taking chess to the next level move on to Chess Ladder, the following term. I recommend Chess  for children who know how the pieces move but want to improve their knowledge and confidence.
